Call Leak Check · free · Denver trades

Find where your calls are leaking.

Type your business name. We read your Google listing, read your homepage, see where you show up against nearby businesses in your trade, and test your site on a phone. About a minute. Your scores are free. The full fix list unlocks with a business email or phone number.

If nothing is wrong, it says so.

How it works, and what it can’t tell you

What happens when you press the button

Four things, in about a minute. One: we ask Google’s official Places service for businesses matching the name you typed, and you pick yours. Two: we read that listing: category, phone, website, hours, star rating, number of reviews, number of photos. Three: we make one request for the homepage linked from the listing and look at its HTML. Four: we ask Google’s PageSpeed Insights to load that page the way a mid-range phone would. We also ask Google once for your kind of business in your city (for example “Plumber in Lakewood, Colorado”), note where your listing fell in the up-to-20 businesses it returned, and keep only anonymous numbers such as the middle review count. No competitor is named. Nothing from Google or from your website is stored. You see your scores straight away; the detailed fix list opens when you give a business email or phone number.

Whose score is this?

Ours. Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, and keeps the details private. Google does not publish a score for a business, and nobody outside Google can calculate one. Every point in this check comes from Callsmith’s own written rubric, version , which asks three plain questions about a trades business: can people find you, can they reach you, and does anyone answer. Listing details shown in a report come from Google Maps. Callsmith is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google. Google, Google Maps and Google Business Profile are trademarks of Google LLC.

Five results, not two

  • Meets The evidence supports the requirement.
  • Fix The evidence shows a specific problem.
  • Check The evidence isn’t strong enough for a confident call. A person should look.
  • Not tested The check didn’t run or failed. It never counts against you.
  • N/A Doesn’t fit your business, so it’s left out of the math.

The math

Each group score is 100 × points earned ÷ points settled, rounded, and sits next to a coverage figure showing how much of the group was settled. Checks marked Check, Not tested or N/A count neither for nor against you. If an important check in a group is unsettled, or more than a quarter of the group is, the number is withheld and you see the findings instead. A site that blocks our request is never turned into a bad grade. There is no combined score. The review-count check compares you with the middle of up to 20 nearby businesses Google returned for your category and city; the star and photo thresholds are Callsmith’s rules of thumb. “Found on Google” (your place in that same list) and “Vs nearby competition” (reviews, stars and place, each against the middle of that list) are shown for context and never counted in a score, because where you show up is the result of the other lines, not something you can switch on.

The homepage read

One request for one public page. It identifies itself as CallsmithCheck, follows the site’s robots.txt, never logs in, never submits a form, never places a call, and reads at most about 600 KB. It looks at the HTML only, so anything a site adds later with JavaScript, and anything about how the page looks, is marked “Check” or left out rather than guessed. The page is not stored. Site owners who don’t want it can block CallsmithCheck in robots.txt.

The optional review reader

It uses word lists and rules Callsmith wrote for trades reviews. It is not a trained AI model, it runs entirely in your browser, and it shows every label so you can disagree with it. We do not collect review text from Google or anywhere else.

What this check does not do

It does not measure what a customer standing in a particular neighborhood sees on Google Maps: Google orders results by where the searcher is, and we run one search from no location, for one phrase, on one day. It does not sign in to your Business Profile, name or grade your competitors, count your missed calls, or estimate lost revenue. Those need access or data this page doesn’t have, and we’d rather say so than make up a number.

Privacy, in plain words

What we keep, and what we don’t. We set no cookies, run no analytics or advertising trackers, and save nothing to your device. Your report lives in this browser tab. We do not store the listing details Google returned, the homepage we read, or your report.

If you unlock the full report, we keep the email address or phone number you gave, the business name you typed, the Google place ID of the listing, and our own conclusion (which kind of leak, and which checks need fixing). We use it for one thing: Ben may contact you personally, once, about your report. We don’t add you to a list, send automated messages, or sell or share it. It is deleted automatically after 90 days, or sooner if you ask: hello@thecallsmith.com.

What leaves your browser. The business name you type goes to our server, which passes it to Google’s Places service to find the listing, and passes the listing’s website address to Google’s PageSpeed Insights for the phone speed test. Google handles those requests under the Google Privacy Policy. A Cloudflare Turnstile “not a robot” check runs first and is covered by Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Daily limits. To keep the service free we count checks per day against the business’s Google place ID and against a one-way scrambled form of your IP address. Both counters expire within 48 hours.

Review text never leaves your device. If you use the optional review reader, the text you paste isn’t sent to Callsmith, to an AI service, or to anyone else.

Hosting and fonts. This site is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard connection data, such as your IP address, to deliver and protect the page. The typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser also requests the font files from Google.

Contacting us is your choice. If you email your results, book a call or phone us, we receive what you send and use it only to reply to you about your business. We don’t sell or share it. Ask us to delete it at any time: hello@thecallsmith.com.
